Getting Going
After about a month of negotiations, paper work etc. EARS, Inc. has signed a contract to go to Yemen in July 2009 and do a Radio Drama Project, similar to the one in Pakistan last year. This project also includes a teacher training workshop. There are many pratical and cultural differences that we will overcome and need to manage. One is that unlike Pakistan, the participants will not speak English. Another, the week starts on Saturday and goes through Wednesday. Another that toward the end of the time Ramadan starts. Another is we will have a rental car and drive ourselves.
Our main issue right now though is cash. We get money upon the signing of the contract, unfortunately the EFT payment takes time to set up and we need to leave soon. So there is no cash to get us going. I have found a travel agent who will bill us but it leaves us about $5000 short prior to leaving.
I am working on finding a solution to this problem. And I know there will be 100 more.
